McGinn has scored two goals in his six appearances for the Dons this season and he admits he’s in somewhat of a purple patch in his career.

“I’m delighted with my own performances at the minute,” he said.

“I feel good and I have been chipping in with a few goals and a lot of assists this season as well, so yeah personally things have been good for me, but I want to be involved in the international games, so hopefully I can be involved whenever I’m called upon.

“Me personally I feel great with the way things are going, I have been confident and it’s the most I played in my career.

“I have been consistent for Aberdeen and I have played a lot of football and the move to Aberdeen has got my career back on track again, which has meant I have been on the international stage as well, so at the minute everything has been going in the right direction and I just want to keep that going as much as I can and to get to the Euros would be the icing on the cake.”

Only a few weeks ago McGinn scored a goal of the season contenders at Hearts, in the Dons’ 3-1 win at Tynecastle and he admits to date that is his favourite goal in his career.

“I was very happy with the goal against Hearts, in fact it’s probably my favourite goal I have ever scored and it is definitely up there,” he added.

“The whole occasion and the whole performance was good.

“Getting that goal was nice because it was an important game for us as well, we knew going into Hearts’ back yard that it would be a difficult game.

“But to go there and score three goals in the first half and then the way we seen out the game was very good, but yeah obviously getting the goal and having two assists in that game, then yes I was a happy man that day.”
