Everton’s Duffy to look at options in the summer

Everton footballer Shane Duffy has suggested he may have to re-assess his future in the summer, when the Londonderry man’s loan spell with Yeovil comes to an end.

The towering central defender is enjoying a good season with the Championship newcomers, and Everton manager Roberto Martinez is said to be pleased with his progress.

In an interview with sports website, www.TheScore.ie the young Galliagh man said it was better to play at Yeovil than to sit on the bench with the Goodison Park side.

He stressed his determination to make the grade with the Toffees, but admitted that he will look at his options in the summer.

He told TheScore.ie : “I hadn’t been playing at Everton so to come here and play every week is quite different. It was an easy decision to extend the (loan) deal because I enjoyed my first three months so I’ve decided to see how it goes.”

He said Roberto Martinez had been “good for the club” and changed the playing style at Everton.

He added: “At the minute I’m just taking it game on game and see how it goes. I’m not really focusing on Everton at the minute. I’ll go back in pre-season and see what the manager wants. If he wants me I’ll stay but if not I’ll just move on.”
