Excellent win for Town U13s

TOWN Juniors U13s travelled to Seagoe in a Mid-Ulster Youth League Shield tie and came away with an excellent victory.

The match kicked off at a high tempo with Banbridge having a good opportunity in the first minute when Jordan Walker bombed through the home defence only to be denied by a fine save by the keeper.

Seagoe hit back straight away and scored after just three minutes when Banbridge failed to clear the ball, the Seagoe striker found himself in the right place at the right time to slot the ball into an open net.

The Banbridge boys didn’t seem phased by this and came right back at Seagoe, pushing them back into their own half, dictating the play.

Jake Dennison floated in a lovely corner that found Town center back Adam Dickson, who rose highest to head home the equaliser with his first goal of the season.

This set up for an entertaining half with both teams going toe to toe, but with Banbridge having the upper hand.

With Town eager to increase their lead, Jake Dennison was brought down in the box after a dangerous run, turning the Seagoe defender inside and out.

Caolan “Cool” Clarke stepped up and smashed the ball into the net to give Town a half-time lead.

The second-half began with Town making a double change, introducing Jake Laffin and Conor Ward. This proved most effective when on four minutes pacey striker Jake Laffin raced onto a through ball, and cheekily nut-megged the keeper to score and give Town a cushion.

With Jake Laffin now on a roll, he pounced again two minutes later to find the back of the net from a rebounded ball. In what proved to be a high action period of play, Seagoe to their credit didn’t lie down and nipped a goal back eight minutes into the second half.

With Town’s back four having the measure of the Seagoe attack, it was all to play for in the Banbridge front line. This left the creative partnership of Jordan Walker and Jake Dennison to pressurise the Seagoe defence, and this proved fruitfull when Jake Dennison created the move of the match when he fed a pinpoint pass for the ever alert Conor Ward who finished from close range.

This week’s man of the match was Adam “Dixie” Dickson, for a very composed display of defending and grabbing himself a goal.
