That’s after the much-discussed link between Banbridge Town Juniors and the senior club was finally confirmed.

The Juniors have also elected a new committee with Peter Watson at its helm and the new chairman is excited at the prospects awaiting his young players.

“This is a very exciting time for football in Banbridge,” he said. “The Juniors and Seniors will benefit greatly from this new arrangement and I will, along with the committee and coaches, endeavour to continue the tremendous work of the outgoing Chairman.

“The Juniors and Seniors are now united as one and any players joining the ranks of Banbridge Town Juniors FC will know there is an opportunity to tread the official path to Banbridge Town seniors and hopefully to Premier League football.”

Watson succeeds David Maxwell as the Juniors’ chairman. Maxwell had been in the position for eight years before stepping down due to business commitments.

New chairman Peter’s son Ryan, of course, is the Town’s first team manager and he is equally as keen to shepherd more young talent through to the senior squad.

“This is a very, very promising move for the club and a huge stride in the right direction,” he said.
