EXCLUSIVE: Adair is new Town boss

BANBRIDGE Town confirmed to the Leader that they have appointed Brian Adair as their new manager.

Town Chairman, Andrew Cully, confirmed the news this afternoon, ending weeks of speculation over who would be taking over the reigns at Crystal Park following the departure of Ronnie Haughey two months ago.

In recent weeks Ryan Watson and Barry Taylor have been in temporary charge, but it was the now former Rathfriland Rangers boss that the club wanted to take them forward.

“We want to thank our supporters for being so patient while we made this decision, and also Rathfriland Football Club for granting us permission to speak to Brian,” said Mr Cully.

“I’m absolutely delighted that Brian has taken the job and we look forward to having him in charge.

“Brian is a very driven man and he will keep everyone on their toes. Hopefully he will bring success to the club and I would like to wish him all the best.

“Can I also thank Ryan and Barry for all their help over the recent weeks. We have picked up a number of vital wins in recent weeks and they had a large part to pay in that success.”

Adair became Rathfriland manager in May 2010 and led the club to the final of the Bob Radcliffe Cup in his first season - although they were beaten by Banbridge, who were then managed by Colin Malone,

Previous to that Adair was an accomplished midfielder, having played for Loughgall before moving into the manager’s hotseat at Iveagh Park.
