Experienced defender shines in away day win

The likes of Gary Henderson, Darren McCauley, Michael McCrudden and Stephen Curry will be better players.

“It was a good learning curve for the players, this type of game was great for the likes of (Gary) Henderson and for Stephen Curry to get 45 minutes under his belt that will do him the world of good, to be involved in that nature of a game.

“We have a nice mix of experience and youth throughout the squad. The youth players are coming along well and you see that we have a wee bit of quality.”

One man who continues to force his way back into Kee’s plans is experienced defender John Curran.

Having missed much of the season, the former Lisburn Distillery centre-back has slotted in nicely alongside Paddy McLaughlin at the heart of ’Stute’s defence and he hasn’t put a foot wrong.

“Currany is an interception defender, he wins his headers, tackles and he’s solid,” he added.

“He isn’t the quickest now that he’s 32-years-old, but he has got the anticipation skills and that’s what was needed on Saturday.

“OK it’s a bit harder on that type of surface because it is quick but he was excellent in terms of his application and him and Paddy put in a good shift defensively.”
