First Larne match

It was against Ballymena at Inver Park in in January 1987. It was the fifth round of the Irish Cup. Larne won 2-0 on their way to the final. I don’t remember much except my dad bought me my first Larne scarf before the game!

Best moment as a Larne fan

It was probably winning the Irish Cup semi-final against Ballymena in 2005. Jeff Hughes had been upended in the box and Mark Dickson struck home the penalty to win it.

Alex Spackman also produced what I think was probably the single greatest goalkeeping display in a Larne shirt that day. I was too young to fully appreciate the semi-final wins in ‘87 and ‘89. In 2005, Jimmy McGeough had us all believing that we were finally going to win it!

Favourite current player

It has to be Paul Maguire. He’s scoring goals for fun at the moment and has a great first touch too.

Favourite all-time LFC player

Gary McCutcheon. He was only here for a year but scored some fantastic goals for us. He’s the best player I’ve ever seen playing for Larne.

Team you love to beat

Linfield. Everybody loves to beat Linfield, although it doesn’t happen very often.

Mourneview Park, home of Glenavon. It’s an excellent ground with good facilities and we nearly always win there!

Best player in the Championship

I have absolutely no idea! If I was to pick a Larne player it would be Paul Maguire.
