First league win of season for Rangers

Grange Rangers eventually notched up their first league win of the season when they got the better of Bangor YM at Foundry Lane on Saturday.

Second-half strikes by Philip Gregg and Marc Campbell secured the 2-0 win and the Amateur League Division 2B points.

Following a scoreless first-half, manager Stephen King made a tactical double substitution and this paid dividends within two minutes when Gregg opened the scoring, pouncing on the rebound from Campbell’s penalty miss.

Seconds later Campbell doubled the lead after collecting a Gregg pass, while at the opposite end David Brown recorded his first clean sheet by saving a penalty, following a foul by Aaron Reid.

“This was a very encouraging performance, and having secured our first league win I now hope that we will start climbing up the table,” said King.
