First point of the season for Donacloney with scoreless draw

Donacloney collected their first league point of the season with a scoreless draw at home to Lurgan United. It was a hard fought draw with neither side creating much in the way of clear cut chances.

Lurgan had long periods of possession for the first half an hour but Cloney kept a good shape ensuring that chances were mainly limited to long range. The 15 minutes leading into the break saw Cloney get some attacking impetus with their best chance seeing a Steven Leckey shot blocked and Andrew Rusk first time goal bound effort from the rebound striking Jeff Woods and going past the post.

The second half continued in much the same vain as the first half with Lurgan having long spells of possession and Donacloney restricting them to shooting from range.

Derek Curran was called to make an excellent save from a free kick on the edge of the area. He pushed the strike onto the post and was happy to gather the rebound as it rolled back along the goal-line.

Best efforts of the half fell to Rusk and Stuart Wilson.

Donacloney would like to thank Portadown Country Fried Chicken for their kind match ball sponsorship.
