Five star Whites win

Lisburn Distillery were back in action against basement side PSNI last weekend, the Whites going into this game hoping to make it three games in a row without defeat.

Distillery settled the quicker and took the lead on eight minutes as Sean Southam flicked home a header past Matt Quinn to the delight of the home fans - a perfect start for Tommy Kincaid’s side but after last week’s late goal the job was far from done.

Lukask Adamczyk had a good chance to level only for some superb tracking back by Stuart Thompson as he held off the striker to put the ball out for a throw in and the visitors were punished for not making that opportunity count as Distillery were soon Two-Nil ahead as William Bingham was played through to round Quinn and slot into the bottom corner of the net.

Two then became three as Sean Southam flicked in a Martin Jones cross the clinical striker firing low into the net a for a goal that ensured the Whites led by three clear goals in any competitive game this season.

The Whites were cruising by this stage but then once again the red mist descended as Joe McDonnell was sent off for a second yellow on forty minutes, the third week in a row the Whites were reduced to ten men, a situation which is now starting cause major concerns for all around New Grosvenor.

That said being a man light didn’t seem to impact the home side initially as Sean Southam was nearly through to score a hat-trick only for a superb save by Quinn to deny the Whites a fourth.

PSNI gave themselves some hope before the interval as they pulled one back as Ashton McDermott’s cross was headed into the net by Adamcyzk to give the greens a lifeline.

Tommy Kincaid thought it was time for a change during the interval bringing off goalscorers Sean Southam and William Bingham and replacing them with Stephen Doyle and Artur Kopyt, Distillery’s formation being slightly adjusted for the second half.

PSNI had two decent chances but overall the extra man wasn’t troubling the hosts and it was little surprise when Stephen Doyle made it 4-1 as he rounded the keeper before calmly placing the ball into the net.

Distillery were dominating the midfield in the second half not letting PSNI past although the visitors had one good chance.

Doyle made it Five-One on 89 minutes as he ran through to slot home into the back into the net past Quinn to gain all three points for Distillery a vital win that extends the Whites unbeaten run to three games.
