Focus on league return

Glenavon return to Danske Bank Premiership commitments tomorrow (Saturday) for the sole September league date at Mourneview Park.

Coleraine will arrive in Lurgan aiming to extend a run of positive results against Glenavon but Gary Hamilton is expecting a strong panel of players available for selection.

International recognition for James Singleton and Joel Cooper led to the postponement last weekend of Glenavon’s Mid-Ulster derby at Portadown. The break between dates presented a chance for Glenavon players to recover from any minor knocks.

Hamilton is hoping for a positive performance to build on the club’s first home point of the campaign from a scoreless draw with Glentoran.

“Ciaran Martyn recently had surgery on a ruptured Achilles so it remains a long-term issue,” said Hamilton, the Glenavon manager. “Gareth McKeown is out and David Elebert is currently struggling with hamstring trouble.

“Everyone else should be okay and past results against Coleraine confirm we can expect a tricky match.

“Coleraine have started the season really well.

“It will come down to commitment and energy from our players to turn around that form against Coleraine.”

Kick-off will be 3 o’clock at Mourneview Park.

Ciaran Caldwell has left Glenavon to join Glentoran.
