FOOTBALL: Carnmoney FDC win ESF Championship trophy

Carnmoney Football Development Centre Under-13s returned home to Newtownabbey from the 2016 ESF Grand Finale at St George's Park clutching the ESF Championship trophy.

Carnmoney delivered a string of superb displays, winning four out of five group games without conceding a goal.

With 1,200 teams participating every year, the ESF Festival of Football is the UK’s biggest youth football festival, so being crowned Champion of Champions really is a huge achievement.

Jeff Barr, from Carnmoney FDC, said: “This year’s ESF Festival has exceeded our expectations, and we can safely say the whole team has had a great time, from beginning to end.

“To be crowned ESF Champions in the U13 tournament was fantastic, the boys put in some top quality team performances throughout the tour and to go on and win the Grand Finale has been truly deserved, we’re incredibly proud of how well they played! As a team, we will savour this victory for some time!”
