The U15 club, which trains at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, used the Asda donation to purchase a tracksuit, hoodie and hat, as well as a sports bag, for each of its 17 players – and also kitted out its four coaches.

With the boys aged between 14-15 years old, the new kits will be on display throughout the remaining matches of the Daily Mirror Lisburn League this year.

In addition to the £1000 donated to the boys’ club, the U11 girls’ team benefitted from an additional £500, which will also be spent on new sportswear for the players.

Head coach at Ballymoney Youth Football Club, Adrian Darragh, said: “The young people who train with our club show commitment to their team week after week – and as a coach, I am delighted that we are now able to reward their efforts with a brand new kit. Being able to play home and away games in a matching kit is an important way of boosting team morale, and increasing the confidence of our players on the pitch.

“We would like to thank the Asda Foundation for giving our club this extra boost – with our young people demonstrating their gratitude through dedication at both training and at our upcoming games.”

Sheila Palmer, Asda Coleraine Community Champion, added: “Ballymoney Youth Football Club provides an important hub in our community for young people to come together and play sport. As well as getting them out and about, it is crucial that we support initiatives which develop and support teenagers in our area.

“I am thrilled the Asda Foundation was able to support the purchase of a new kit for both the U15 boys’ and U11 girls’ team – and I will be cheering them on from the side-lines at their upcoming matches!”
