FOOTBALL: Coleraine Schools’ Swedish hat-trick

THE Coleraine Schools Football teams are celebrating again after another successful trip to the Umea Football Festival in Sweden.

The local lads repeated their feat of 12 months ago by winning three age categories in the renowned football tournament.

The Under 10s, 11s and 12s were all victorious in Sunday’s finals to mark an incredible achievement for the players and coaches alike.

The remaining two teams, the under-13s and under-14s, suffered narrow defeats in the quarter finals of their respective age groups.

Ruairi McClean, who helped organised the trip, praised both the staff and players for their hard work throughout the week.

“I would like to thank all of the staff who have cared for and brought out the brilliant best in all of the boys who travelled to Sweden this week.

“The dedication, patience and professionalism shown by the staff cannot be underestimated. I am sure the boys have learned a lot from them and it is clear to see the respect that the boys have for the staff members.

“I would also like to thank the boys of course. They have been a dream to work with, showing terrific manners, respect, perseverance and plenty of quality on the pitch all week.

“Their parents should be very proud of them because I know that I couldn’t be any more proud!”

There will be a full round up in next week’s paper with more pictures.
