After last week’s victory over Ballysillan Swifts, Cookstown RBL had the chance to extend their unbeaten run over Mallusk side Remo.

The last time these two teams met it was Remo who were victorious at the Fairhill.

Remo started like a house on fire and within two minutes they had taken the lead. Some neat passing and there was the Remo left winger to slot in a goal before the RBL knew were they where at.

Remo continued to bombard the RBL defence but the Cookstown team held fast.

Ryan Smith levelled the scores when there was confusion in the Remo penalty box and the wee Scotsman buried a low shot into the corner of the goal. That seem to inspire the team and Kelso had a pop at goal only for it to go wide.

The RBL were now playing well, with Arnie McPartland and Hampson flying down both wings.

It seemed to be all one way traffic for the RBL but against the run of play Remo took the lead again. The referee gave a throw in to Remo when the ball was clearly not out. From the throw into the box it seem to catch Wylie out and he failed to clear his line and the ball seem to end up in the back of the net to the disbelief of the RBL team.

Again the Cookstown team found the spirit to level when big man Kelso tip toed around a Remo defence and then unselfishly squared the ball to McMenemey who put the ball into an open net.

The RBL pushed for a winner and it was McMenemey who was clean thru on goal and with only the keeper to beat but the keeper made a brilliant save to deny McMenemey.

Even at the death Kelso had a chance only for a defender to clear it off the line.

This Saturday March 8 CookstownRBL take on FC Larne at Beechway at 2pm.
