Football: Disappointment as Desertmartin bow out of the Craig Cup

A lack lustre display in the first half was the reason Desertmartin went out the semi-final of the Craig Memorial Cup against Coleraine Reserves at Coleraine last Saturday.

Coleraine went into an early lead but Robin Patton equalised with a spectacular over head kick. Coleraine replied with three further goals to take a comfortable three goal advantage at the interval.

The second half was a different story, Desertmartin were the more dominant side hitting the woodwork on three occasions and several good scoring opportunities went begging before Chris Kerr pulled one back leaving Coleraine to hang on in the last 15 minutes.

Congratulations to Coleraine for going through but how Desertmartin must rue that poor 1st half performance. However praised must be given to young Desertmartin side who over came tough away fixtures to get to the semi-finals.

This Saturday they are home to Monkstown in the second round of the Crawford Cup kick off 2pm in Dromore Park. So please come along and give them your support. The Swifts are away to Ballyclare Comrades Reserves kick off 2pm.
