Killymoon should have opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Danny Maguire set up Stewart Gibson but he failed to hit the target with the goal at his mercy.

Two minutes later a bad slip in the Killymoon defence let in Chimney Corner who made no mistake.

Jamie O’Neill also had a free header in the box from a corner but was also unable to hit the target. It was a pretty even game with both teams trying to hit long balls to get the forwards in behind the defenders on the big pitch at Allen Park.

The second half was pretty similar with the two teams equally matched. Chimney Corner grabbed a second goal on 65 minutes with a slip from the Killymoon ‘keeper.

Killymoon refused to lie down and almost pulled a goal back through Stuart Donaghy. Stuarty got on the end of a long ball down the middle, but was unable to find the back of the net.

A disappointed Killymoon returned home with nothing to show for their efforts on a day that they deserved at least a draw.

This Saturday 26th March, Killymoon are at home to Newtowne in the league. Kick off at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena is 2pm.

Newtowne are one of the teams in with a chance of winning the league and Killymoon will be looking for a similar result to the quarter final of the cup when the Rangers won 3-2 on the 9th January.

Preparations are well under way for a Poker Classic and the club’s annual dinner. Would all last season’s trophy winners get them handed in to the secretary.
