FOOTBALL: Good run out for Portstewart in friendly

PORTSTEWART hosted All Saints from Ballymena in their first pre-season game on Saturday.

The seasiders have boosted their squad over the past few months, and the game gave the new comers a chance to shine.

With only four players from last season in Saturday’s starting team, Portstewart started the game well and put the visitors under pressure from the start.

“The game gave us a chance to have a look at our new signings,” told Assistant Manger, Aaron Forgrave.

“Joel Madison, Andy White, Craig Ramsey and Ian Todd were the only players that started from last season, but credit to the boys they played some good football against a decent side.”

In the second half Dean Murray, Owen Moody, Lee Rushe, Connor Allen, Alan Ewart, Tommy Parsons, Ricky Dunlop, Ryan Moffat and She Bradley were introduced.

After the visitors claimed a late goal in the first half, Portstewart were keen to level matters.

Tommy Parsons was the man on target for the Ports as the game ended 1-1.

“We made eight or nine chances at half time and we were pleased with the effort shown by the boys that came on.

“Both Ricky Dunlop and Ryan Mofffat had good chances in front of goal.

“Pre season games are really about getting the fitness levels up and it was a good run out for the boys,” said Aaron.

Portstewart entertain a Coleraine Select team tonight (Tuesday), kick off is 7.30; while they travel to Eglinton for a friendly this Saturday.
