FOOTBALL: Ladies still searching for first win

COLERAINE Ladies are still searching for thier first win over the season.

The ladies suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat when they entertained Cliftonville Ladies last Thursday night.

Starting the game well, Coleraine had a number of chances through Lauren Hammerstorm.

Cliftonville then came into the game and gave Coleraine right-back Michelle Carson a tough time, but with excellent covering from captain Shariee Nicholl the Coleraine girls stood strong.

Cliftonville grabbed a goal from a corner but Coleraine fought on and finished the half strong.

Half time came at the wrong time for Coleraine, as five minutes into the half they conceeded a second goal.

Credit to the girls they continued to work hard, Lauren Marshall and Katelyn McKane pushed forward in search of a goal, and Katelyn was unlucky not to get her name on the scoresheet.

Again it was another corner that saw Coleraine concede a third goal and despite their efforts Coleraine couldn’t match a strong and tricky Cliftonville side who missed out on promotion last season thanks to Coleraine

The visitors grabbed a fourth shortly after. Despite the score line there were some very encouraging performances, Amy McAlister was solid at left back and Chelsea Moore worked hard down the right.

Coleraine face a tough test against Donegal Celtic this Thursday night. The game, at Coleraine University has a 7.30 kick off.
