FOOTBALL: Michael Hughes named in Michael O'Neill's dream team

Northern Irleand manager Michael O'Neill has named Michael Hughes in his dream team.

Larne man Hughes is one of four of O’Neill’s old international team-mates who feature in the ex-Newcastle midfielder’s line-up for Sky’s The Fantasy Football Club which was due to be broadcast on Friday evening.

The Carrick Rangers owner is named alongside Keith Gillespie, Norman Whiteside and Mal Donaghy.

Paul Gascoigne (Newcastle) and Dundee United trio David Narey, Maurice Malpas and Duncan Ferguson are also in O’Neill’s XI. So too are former Coventry stars Gary McAllister and Roland Nilsson, while Jim Leighton is selected as goalkeeper.

O’Neill was capped 31 times for Northern Ireland and played for a string of clubs including Newcastle United, Dundee United, Hibs, Coventry City and Aberdeen.
