Football: Millar quits Larne

Larne boss Paul Millar has quit Inver Park, it emerged this morning (Monday, April 9).

A statement from chairman Archie Smyth, published on the club’s website, read: “With immediate effect and by mutual consent, Paul Millar has left Larne Football Club.

“Paul has had an offer from Glenavon FC and we both felt that it would be too good an opportunity for him to turn down.

“We have parted company on the best of terms and would like to thank him for all his hard work over the past three years and wish him every success for the future.”

Millar guided Larne to this season’s Steel and Sons Cup final only to lose out to Bangor in the Christmas showpiece, but a string of poor league results has led to discontent among some of the fans.

Earlier this month, the Larne Times exclusively revealed the former Glentoran boss was considering his position at the local club.
