This Ballymena Junior League Division Two fixture was, at times, very ill tempered and both sides can count themselves fortunate to finish with a full contingent of players.

It was the Carrickfergus visitors who made the brighter start and, despite claims for offside, they took an early lead following a free kick award.

It was a setback from which Olympic would not recover and after a number of near misses, in the 24th minute , the away side went 0-2 ahead.

Stand in keeper Scullion now made two good stops to keep his side in touch while best effort from the hosts arrived on the half hour mark when Muir saw a direct free kick well saved by the Krag Albion keeper.

Hard working centre forward Magee had a shot on target, but overall, very few chances were created by the Moyola team during this first period.

The game was all but over in the 50th minute when a quick breakaway saw the travellers score for 0-3.

Indeed, but for two excellent saves by Scullion in the very next attacks, it could have been much worse.

With full backs Scott and McGrath joining in attack, the best period of the match now arrived for Moyola.

A good move saw Mulholland create space, and when the ball rebounded to Lagan on the right, he shot narrowly over the crossbar from 15 yards.

Then, in the 71st minute, another fine move saw Drummond on hand to fire to the net for 1-3.

This offered some hopes of a Moyola Park Olympic revival, but alas, this hope proved short lived and the goal just a consolation.

In the 78th minute, Krag extended their lead to 1-4, and in the 83rd, the Carrickfergus team converted again to leave them 1-5 ahead.

The game now came to a tame conclusion and Moyola Park Olympics poor run of form of late continues.

They remain in mid table and will want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible in order to boost much needed morale .
