FOOTBALL REVIEW: Ballymena and Provincial League junior divisions round-up

Junior Division 1: Ronnie Burns celebrated his first game in charge of Ballyclare Comrades Reserves with a whopping 7-1 victory at FC Whiteabbey.

Scott Cummings bagged four with Ross Davidson, Johnny McClurg and Jamie McMillan netting the others. James McPartland scored Whiteabbey’s consolation.

Elsewhere, Ricky Thompson landed Carnmoney FC’s only goal as they went down 8-1 to Newington YC II.

Junior Division 2: Ballyclare North End were on the end of a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Cookstown Youth, while Mountainview ran out 6-4 winners at home to Larne Olympic.

The Invermen led three times through John McManus, Stuart McCutcheon and Shaun McGoran, but strikes from John Adams, John Shields (two), Billy Brown, Nathan McIlwaine and an own goal secured the three points for Mountainview. Stephen Christie netted Olympic’s fourth.

Junior Division Three: Carrick Thistle breezed to a 6-0 success away to Brantwood-Loughside thanks to goals from Lee Lowry (three), Phil Crozier (two) and Paul Gibb.

Marcus Livingstone (two), David Spiers, Ryan Clawson and Wallace Nelson were on target for 1st Carrickfergus Old Boys who were 5-2 winners over Carnlough Swifts. Declan McDermott and Liam Mitchell found the net for Carnlough.

Whitehead Rangers’ Phil Hall scored the only goal as his side defeated Red Star 1-0, while Hillhead Eagles lost 4-1 to Antrim Swifts.

Castle Star eased to a 7-2 win at KCC Athletic with strikes from Lloyd Watters (two), Andy Hall (two), Michael Dallas, Graham Harrison and Dean Meneely. Athletic’s goals came courtesy of Matthew Davis and Stephen Stewart.
