FOOTBALL REVIEW: Three and easy for Comrades reserves

All the goals were scored in the first half at Antrim Forum where centre half Aaron Finn picked up the Man of the Match award.

Scott Cummings opened the scoring on the half hour when he volleyed in to the roof of the net from Finn’s well directed free to the back post.

Ross Clarke doubled the lead with a low shot from the edge of the box after David McCullough’s corner had been partially cleared.

Just before the interval Gregg McFaul scored the most spectacular goal of the afternoon, when he rifled the fall in to the top corner of the net from twenty-five yards.

During a one-sided first half Ross McKnight in the home goal scarcely had a touch, but after the interval exchanges were much more even.

When the Tyrone lads pushed forward the home back four – Ross Clarke, Craig Todd, Finn and skipper Scott Gault – ensured that McKnight’s activities were restricted to dealing with long range efforts. At the opposite end Cummings twice was denied by the keeper, while a McCullough rocket skimmed the post.

“We never looked like losing, and manager Ronnie Burns and I were very pleased that the lads continued to pass the ball around effectively, so that we were always in control despite being without regulars Bobby Crowe, Kyle McCauley, Jamie McMillan and Michael Haskins,” stated assistant manager Andrew Higginson.
