Celtic thought they had opened the scoring after five minutes when their captain Maguire raced clear and placed past the keeper only for the referee to give a debatable offside decision.

Celtic were lucky to be still level soon after when the hosts midfielder found himself with too much room in the box but he fired narrowly wide.

Celtic took full advantage of this let off and took the lead when McGahan nodded home at the back post from a Kelly long throw.

Celtic could have doubled their lead before the half when Harley played in Maguire but the hosts keeper made a fine double save to deny him.

Early in the second half Maguire raced clear after good work from McCloskey and this time he made no mistake as he calmly slotted past the onrushing keeper to stretch the lead.

The hosts tried their best to get back in the game but the Celtic defence dealt with their efforts with relative ease.

Celtic could have added to their tally through efforts from Maguire, McCloskey and McGahan but they found the hosts keeper in good form as the match ended 2-0 to Celtic.
