Former Rangers star Gough takes in Homers game

But even the Junior Shield and Junior Cup ‘double’ winners had to do a double-take when former Glasgow Rangers skipper Richard Gough turned up at one of their games!

The 61-times capped former Scotland defender was in the Province to attend a function and was brought to the game by a friend of Homers midfielder Gary Baird.

And he watched from the sidelines at Wakehurst playing fields as Homers took another major stride towards a fourth successive Ballymena Saturday Morning League championship by beating title rivals Carniny Rangers last Saturday Morning.

“It’s ironic after the hundreds of times people associated with our club would have gone to watch Richard Gough playing at Ibrox, that he would end up coming to watch US!” laughed one club official.
