Fourth win for Amateurs U11s

DROMORE Amateurs U11s were in action on Saturday against Portadown U11s.

The morning was bright and so was Dromore’s opening spell as first Adam hit the post and then the bar.

The Portadown goalkeeper saved well from Euan, Philip, Ben and Matthew Briggs.

It had to take a 20 yard shot from defender Nathan to open the scoring and open his account for Dromore. The shot fizzed along the ground giving the keeper no chance. Ben then came off and made way for Jack Soye.

The boys began moving the ball around after thinking they were never going to score.

Adam again was making great crosses from the right but no one was quite in the right place to score.

One of the last crosses in the first half the ball nearly went in at the near post but a Portadown player handled the ball. Philip Johnston took the penalty and slammed the ball home.

Changes were made in the second half, bringing Alan Aiken and Matthew Thompson into midfield. This was Matthew’s first game for Dromore and he was clearly enjoying it.

The next goal came quickly with Adam finishing off a great move.

Ben came back on to add another goal. He was quickly in the action again with a fine shot but it was blocked, however Euan was hand to finish the move with a delicate shot with the outside of his left foot.

Portadown then had their best spell of the match, Josh having to make some great saves and when he was finally beaten there was Morgan Houston with a goal line clearance.

Then Joel Nixon who had tried two long range shots that had gone over the bar found himself on the goal line to convert a goal from a great cross. The proceedings were wrapped up in the last few minutes with Ben Ingrams second goal.

John the coach was delighted that three players, Philip, Joel and Nathan, all scored their first of the season goals and that the passing was crisp and fast.

The 30 goals Dromore have already scored this season have come from all outfield players now. This is a great compliment as they play like a team.

John awarded Joel the player of the month for September. Well done to Joel.

The game next Saturday is at home against Lurgan, please come and support.
