Foyle Cup fever for pair of Northend United Youth teams

All roads lead to the Maiden City for two Northend United Youth sides this week as the Foyle Cup kicked off yesterday (Monday).

Northend have long been associated with this tournament and are represented this year by an U10 and U11 team who are both making her debuts in the competition.

Ally McGarry’s U10 Northend Boys will play in the small sided games section in Group D and have been drawn against Oxford FC, Top of the Hill Celtic, Lagan Harps, Lifford Celtic, Roe Valley and Dungannon Youth.

Joe Kidd’s U11 Northend Boys will also play in the small sided games section in Group B and have been drawn against Sion Swifts, Ballybofey United, Lisburn Youth, Tristar Colts and Newtownards District Primary School

The Foyle Cup Opening Parade of Teams commences at 11.00am on Tuesday morning with all the Teams participating in the Tournament parading from the Magee College site and along the ancient Walls and finishing off at the Guildhall.

U10s

Tuesday 19th July Top of the Hill Celtic Vrs Northend United with a 1.30pm kick off and Northend United Vrs Oxford United with a 2.15pm kick off, both at Leafair

Wednesday 20th July Dungannon Youth Vrs Northend United with a 10.45am kick off and Northend United Vrs Roe Valley with an 11.30am kick off, both at St. Columb’s Park

Thursday 21st July – Knock-out stages

Friday 22nd July – Finals Day

U11s

Tuesday 19th July Sion Swifts Vrs Northend United with a 2.15pm kick off at Scroggy Road, Limavady

Wednesday 20th July Tristar Colts Vrs Northend United with a 1.00pm kick off and Northend United Vrs Newtownards Primary Scholl League with a 1.45pm kick off, both at Vale Centre, Greysteel

Friday 22nd July – Finals Day

PRE-SEASON

Fielding no less than eighteen youth teams next season, ranging in age from U7 to U17, all the Northend United teams are looking forward to getting back to pre-season training on Monday 1st August at the Ballymena Showgrounds Pitch 3.

With a number of additions already to each of the teams, following a series of successful Open nights, all at Wakehurst Academy Club are looking forward to a super season that sees five of the Teams competing in the Lisburn Invitational Youth League, U12s, U13s, U14s, U15s and U17s, and the twelve youngest teams in the small sided games environment of the North West Coleraine and District Youth League and the Irish FA’s small sided games tournament at the Ballymena Showgrounds. Brian McCluney’s U16s will also play in the North West Coleraine and District Youth League.
