Foyle Cup joy for locals

Another successful Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup came to an end today.

There was a lot of success for local sides with Derry City U19 and U17 teams winning their sections, while Derry Colts lifted the U16 accolade thanks to Nathan McEneff’s fifth goal in the competition.

Glasgow giants Celtic beat Donegal School Boys 2-0 with David McKay and Elia N’Goy scoring in either half, while Sligo/Leitrim YL claimed the U12 category beating Letterkenny 4-3 on penalties.

Friday’s finals started with the mini’s taking all the spot-light in the morning; Bertie Peacocks’ seeing off Ballinamallard in the U10 final, securing a 4-3 on penalties.

The dreaded spot-kicks decided to the U11 final with Glentoran Academy coming out on top beating Magherafelt Sky Blues 6-5 on penalties.
