Freak goal costs Distillery

After two positive results against institute and Loughgall Lisburn Distillery travelled to Breda Park against newly promoted side Knockbreda knowing that, even before a ball was kicked, that this would be a very difficult match to get the three points from.

The first real chance came for the Whites on 12 minutes when young Mikey Withers danced his way round Niall Atkinson but a horror tackle by Gary Chisholm saw him sent off.

Distillery goalkeeper Robert Robinson was shown a straight red card for apparent abusive language. Ryan Irwin was replaced back up ‘keeper Ryan McBride.

The Whites were ahead when a Bradley Morton floated ball found Glen Upton who headed back for Jimmy McIlhagga who volleyed past the Breda keeper. Knockbreda’s leveller soon arrived on 56 minutes when a quality free kick by Miguel Chines curled beautifully round the wall leaving young McBride with no chance.

They restored their lead when a free kick was whipped in by Mark Tweedie and was then headed in like a rocket by centre back Neil Alderdice.

The joy however was to be short lived as Eddie Williamson stepped up to score a freak goal. His long range shot was poorly defended by a static Distillery defence who allowed it to travel right through the penalty area before bouncing past McBride.
