Free football for youngsters

Limavady Policing and Community Safety Partnership - working in partnership with Limavady Borough Council’s Sports Development Team – are delivering a comprehensive 12-week midnight soccer project, and local youngsters are encouraged to join the programme.

The new PCSP midnight soccer project kicked off at Roe Valley Leisure centre last week.

It targets young people (aged 12 to 17) on Friday evenings as part of a fitness and health and well being diversion plan.

Limavady PCSP chair Alan Robinson said: “PCSP is delighted to contribute to this project following previous success stories, to offer diversionary activities to local teenagers.”

The project is an evolution of previous midnight soccer schemes, which were delivered by Council’s Sports Development Team.

Mr Ollie Mullan, Sports Development officer, said: “This is an exciting initiative that we know delivers positive results.

“We’ve already had a high level of interest in the programme and we are asking more youngsters in the area to get involved.
