“This is great to see the work start in all three of the areas now Broughshane being the last site to commence the other two being Kells & Connor and Ahoghill .

“I have been fighting for years now to enhance our community sports facilities and I’m glad that that campaign has taken a massive step forward with the reality of these three new facilities.

“These MUGA pitches will take a lot of pressure of the grass pitches in each of these areas and will help with the maintenance of these pitches.

“We have to remember that Broughshane grass pitch is one of only three in this borough that hosts the Milk Cup, the others being the Showgrounds and of course Clough’s new excellent setup.

“Members of the Community often tell me of the excellent facilities in other areas and other villages and towns and ask why such facilities like 3G pitches are not available to them and I completely understand that frustration - that is why I have been fighting for such facilities for many years and I’m glad that the fruits of that labour is finally coming through.

“This will also help with the increasingly growing sports sector that is Youth Football and will provide first class pitches which can be used all year round with out have a massive impact on grass pitches or the disappointment of training and matches being called off because of weather or pitches being cut up,” added Cllr Frew.
