Frustrated Ferguson hints at changes

Saturday’s defeat at Portadown means the Sky Blues have taken just six points from a possible 21 since the start of September and the manager admits his patience is starting to wane.

“At the start of the season we were going well and I said to the players ‘if it’s not broke, we don’t fix it’.

“It now looks as if things are broke so decisions will have to be made and changes will have to be made to try and get a response.

“We’ve had a tough run of fixtures and we are trying to complete with teams with better quality players and bigger budgets and that’s not running our players down in any way - that is the reality.

United continue their league campaign as they entertain Glenavon this Saturday (3pm).

“We will have to put a team out against Glenavon who look as if they are ready and hungry to get three points.

“We will reassess during the week what we are going to do because we are going to have to improve significantly, particularly from our second half performance on Saturday, if we are going to get anything against Glenavon,” added Ferguson.

Johnny Taylor is automatically suspended following his red card at Shamrock Park, while Mark Surgenor completes a two-game ban, but Gavin Taggart is eligible after suspension.
