Wakehurst manager Ian Gregg admits Saturday was a frustrating afternoon as his side drew 0-0 with landlords Moyola Park.

The Ballymena side played the majority of the game with a man advantage after Moyola’s Eugene Gallagher was sent off for dissent inside the opening 20 minutes, but Wakehurst were unable to break their opponents down.

“It was a poor game between two sides who were poor on the day,” Gregg told Times Sport.

“We lacked the cutting edge to take our chances and Moyoal defended stoutly.

“I never felt we had taken the game by the scruff of the neck and we were a pale shadow of the side who had beaten PSNI the previous week.

“But we have to keep things in perspective and say that it’s two games unbeaten after a run of four straight defeats and hopefully now we can build some momentum,” added Gregg.

On 17 minutes, Conor Gregg was unlucky with a great effort, but keeper Farniok made the first of many good saves to turn it round the post.

The best chance of the match for Wakehurst came on 40 minutes, when a Jason Paul effort had the keeper beaten – however, with the goal gaping, Moyola reacted first to clear what should have been the opener.

Moyola then had a decent chance on 53 minutes when Macauley Cairns was beaten in the Wakehurst goal, but Douglas Stevenson came to their rescue and cleared the ball off the line.

On 89 minutes, it looked as if Wakehurst had got the winner they deserved after Ryan Gregg went on a dazzling run beating two defenders before he fed the ball through to brother Conor, but again the goalkeeper made a great save to give Moyola a share of the points.
