Game of two halves for U10s

THIS truly was a game of two halves at Cairnshill Primary School, with the game coming at the start of the school Easter holidays.

Dromore played with ten and Northend had no subs.

The locals started the brightest with Euan playing at left back for the first time and Alan switching to right back, due to Morgan being sick.

It was Euan’s pass up the line to Matthew Briggs which started the move which led to the first goal who passed to Adam, who returned the pass for Matthew to slot the shot home. The goal timed at two minutes was the quickest goal they had scored all season and gave Dromore the confidence they needed.

There was a lot of good tackling by Dromore with Philip and Matthew Briggs working hard in the centre of midfield. They broke up passes and tackled well, helped by Stephen and Matthew Magill on the wings. The back players were putting great balls through for Adam to chase.

The next goal came from a lovely pass from Nathan and Matthew Briggs collected his second goal. Before the break Adam had a great shot which just went wide. The back four of Euan, Joel, Nathan and Alan were solid at the back and Josh made some great saves too.

The second half started with Northend on fire after their team talk, with the first attack coming down the left and a great finish and the second followed shortly after. Dromore had chances of their own with Adam, Matthew Briggs and Stephen all having shots, but all were well saved by the Northend keeper.

With Dromore beginning to tire more goals came from Northend who were a completely different team second half. Adam did have another great run into the box, but just as he was about to shoot with the keeper well beaten the defender made a great tackle.
