The former Larne player was the star of the show as he bagged a hat-trick to help his side bank three precious Premier Division points. The result lifts Stephen Donald’s men one point ahead of Dunmurry with two games in hand.

The Islanders looked dangerous in the opening 20 minutes and they broke the deadlock when Workman found the top corner with a superb 25-yard strike from the right.

The home side huffed and puffed for the remainder of the first-half and there was nothing keeper Halliday could do when Dunmurry equalised thanks to a superb overhead kick.

In the second session the men in red began to dominte the match, and Workman gave them the edge, thanks to a cross that the wind caught and took into the net.

His hat-trick arrived when he turned Dunmurry’s full-back inside and out before drilling a shot into the far corner to make it 3-1.

Straight from the kick-off the wind played it’s part again when Halliday misjudged a cross which looped into the net. It was one of Dunmurry’s few attacks of the half and Island really should have run out more convincing winners with Phillip McCann unlucky not to grab at least one goal.

I’magee: Halliday, Smyth, Phillips, McKnight, Matthews, Workman, K. Kane, Morton, A. Waide, B. Waide (Baird), McCann. Unused subs: Griffith, R. Kane.
