“But I was always going to be continuing with my policy of giving players match time in the Intermediate Cup. They deserve it and we have a lot of matches still to play this season and we need to rotate the line-ups.

“Dollingstown are a good progressive Championship Two side with lots of resources and some experienced players and we will be getting the lowdown on them from Limavady who played them on Saturday,” revealed Haveron, who always believed they would win Saturday’s Irish Cup tie - even with time running out.

“I was annoyed that we had missed opportunitues to go in front early doors, Kyle Cherry and Miguel Chines missing great chances. I was almost kicking myself.

“But I put Anto Lagan on after going behind and asked him to do what he has done so often - and he delivered.

“Then I believed our fitness would tell in extra-time and Miguel did the business with a stunning lob and we got the insurance goal from the predatory Adam Dick.

“Brian Neeson, who made crucial save at a crucial moment, deserves a mention - but it was a terrific team performance and a great day for Carrick Rangers,” added the delighted manager.
