Glebe boss calls for ‘big performance’

GLEBE were forced to share the spoils with Sport and Leisure in Saturday’s Champioship tie.

Super sub James McLaughlin hit home in the dying minutes of the first half, after he replaced McVicker.

McLaughlin had only been on the pitch minutes when he headed home an Elder free kick.

The second half saw chances from both sides.

Sport and Leisure pushed forward and threatened Kane in the Glebe goal on a number of occasions.

Their persistance paid off when Gallagher netted in the 81st minute.

Glebe piled on the pressure after this and McLaughlin, Parkhill, Kennoway and Elder all went close but Morris proved too strong for Sport and Leisure and the scores remained level.

Glebe boss, Peter Cairns said he was disappointed with the result, but not the performance.

“We had enough chances to win two games, we just didn’t find the back of the net,” said Cairns.

“We dominated the game from start to finish, they had a little spell of about ten minutes when they put us under pressure.

“We spoke before the game, and I said I wanted four points out of the next games - Sport and Leisure on Saturday and Ballyclare this week, so this Saturday is a must win.

“We need to put in a big performance.

“Ballyclare will be looking to get back on track this Saturday against us, but I am making it very plain to my players that a win is the only option,” warned the Glebe boss.
