Glebe boss is looking for a '˜big response' from his players

Moyola started the game the stronger of the two teams and had a number of chances to take the lead. Dowie and Gray both tested the Glebe keeper.

The home side got a break through in the 17th minute when Dowie evaded a challenge by Shepard to fire home from a tight angle. A minute later, and Moyola could have extended the lead, however Gallagher pulled off a fine save.

Glebe were forced into an early change when Carson came on to replace McDowell. As the half concluded, Glebe started getting into the game and they were unlucky not to equalise through Christie.

Glebe started the second half on the front foot with Carson testing Maybin in the Moyola goal. The game lost tempo as both side cancelled each other out.

The visitors continued to push for an equaliser, Dunlop’s effort went over the bar and Morrison had a chance.

Glebe continued to press and had three efforts on goal, but Maybin making saves from Dunlop, Dobbin and Spence as the home team ran out 1-0 winners.

Glebe boss Wilmont admitted he was ‘gutted’ by the result.

“We just didn’t turn up at all in the first half, but that has been the story of our season,” he told Times Sport.

“Too often we have left ourselves with too much to do.

“We had a good chat at half time to see what the problem was, but none of us can put our finger on it.

“We either start well and drop off in the second half, or start poorly and come back strong after the break.

“A few weeks ago we were poor in the first half against Dundela and were 3-0 down at half time. But we came roaring back in the second half scoring twice and probably were really unlucky not to get something from the game.

“The frustrating thing is if we played to our potential for 90 minutes we would win those sort of games comfortably.

“On Saturday against Moyola we peppered their goal in the second half, but their keeper just proved too good.

“We aren’t getting any luck either. With 15 minutes to go one of there players hands the ball on the line but the referee doesn’t give anything. That seems to be the way of it when you’re down there, nothing goes for you,” he said.

Wilmont says that the next two games against Queen’s and Banbridge are ‘must wins’.

“We play Queens at home this Saturday and then Banbridge Town the following week. Two wins would lift us up the table, especially this Saturday as ours is one of only two games being played.

“We could possibly jump up three positions which would be a massive boost to everyone. We need a big response after the Moyola game so hopefully the lads can do that.

“They need to play for the whole game though and not just half of it,” said Wilmont.
