Glebe took an early lead after being awarded a penalty on the fifth minute when Danny Brown was impeded in the penalty box resulting in Ricky Dunlop scoring from the spot.

Glebe went on to double their advantage after Luke Mitchell scored on the 24th minute and this score remained until Davy Reid popped up with a third goal giving Glebe a comfortable lead at half-time.

After the break there was a sudden deterioration in the weather with strong wind and rain which made it difficult for both teams who were glad to hear the final whistle.

Elsewhere Wakehurst went in front after Sofia failed to clear a corner kick on the sixth minute which resulted in Balmer scoring from close range.

After this there was little between the teams until a bad clearance from the Sofia Keeper saw Stewart Nixon scored from 35 yards out giving Wakehurst a two goal cushion at half-time.

Sofia who played some nice football will have to adjust to the physical side of the game fell three goals behind after Andy Laughlin scored goal number three on the 65th minute for Wakehurst giving his team a winning start to their league campaign.

Coagh United also got off to a winning start. Both teams got into their stride early in the game with the first clear chance falling to the Sky blues but with it not being taken half-time came with no goals being scored.

Coagh went in front after Richard Donaghy scored on 65 minutes. The Sky Blues went down to 10 men with 20 minutes to go.
