GLEBE WIN 12 GOAL THRILLER

Ballymena and Provincial Football League sponsored by Michelin Athletic Club

Saturday saw all the junior clubs in action for the first time this season with the opening of the Newtownabbey grounds.

In the Newtownabbey YM v Carrickfergus Young Citizen match, Andy King suffered a fractured tom his ankle in what was his first game of the season.

Everyone wishes Andy a speedy recovery back to full fitness and playing again.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE

NEWTOWNE 6 v 2 DUNLOY

Its goals that win games and on this front Newtowne were much sharper than Dunloy though there were never four goals a difference in the teams.

Newtowne took the lead after Ryan Logue scored on the 15th minute and held this until Benny McGarry equalised on the 31st minute.

Dunloy then took the lead on the 65th minute with a goal scored by John John McFerran but Newtowne got back level after Darren Henderson scored on the 71st minute.

Conor O’Hare shot Newtowne in front again on the 75th minute this being followed by number four when Trevor McSparran scored on the 80th minute.

The game was then on the 90th minute when Andy Ferris converted a penalty and in injury time Gary Moore added number six for Newtowne. Referee Mr. Mark Taylor

RASHARKIN UNITED 5 v 1 KILBRIDE SWIFTS

Ryan Boyd shot Rasharkin into the lead on the 2nd minute of this game but it was not until the 40th minute before Ryan Boyd added to this with his second goal.

Rasharkin increased their lead through Nathan Patton on the 46th minute then two goals scored by Sammy McConaghie on the 65th and 75th minutes made it five for Rasharkin.

Kilbride to their credit never gave up and got a deserved goal when Brian Miskimmin scored on the 88th minute. Referee Mr. Kenny Bigger

DESERTMARTIN 5 v 1 CLOUGH RANGERS ATHLETIC

Both teams kept it tight for the first half-hour then a two goal burst by Desertmartin with goals scored by Andy Kelso and Mark Shiels on the 30th and 35th minutes saw then two up at half-time. Desertmartin increased their lead when Chris Kerr on the 60th minute but a goal from David Nicholl on the 80th minute gave Clough a chance of saving the game.

Desertmartin had other ideas and a brace of goals from Mark Shiels to complete his hat-trick on the 85th and 90th minutes killed off Clough hopes.

GLEBE RANGERS RES 7 v 5 DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS

What a game this was and certainly a memorable on for Gareth Henry who scored the first six of Glebes goals with four in the first-half on the 21st, 25th , 30th and 33rd minutes.

Desertmartin then got going and goals scored by Darren Bartlett, Jonny Smyth and Paul Fulton saw them go in only a goal down at the break.

Early in the second half a second goal from Jonny Smyth saw the teams back level before Gareth Henry scored his fifth goal in the game only to see Aaron Service equalise for Desertmartin.

Time was then beginning to run out when Gareth Henry scored his sixth goal and a final one for Glebe scored by Adam McVicker.

KILLYMOON RANGERS RES 3 v 0 BALLYMONEY UNITED RES

This was win number three on the trot for the Moon but a bit of a disappointment for Ballymoney who had to take it on the chin.

Daniel McKinless shot Killymoon in front on the 7th minute and then a second goal scored by Paul Redford on the 30th minute gave them a two goal cushion at half-time.

Ballymoney tried hard to get back into the game but a third goal scored by Leon Abraham on the 56th minute saw Killymoon go on to take full points from the game. Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

JUNIOR DIVISION TWO

FINVOY 3 v 2 WOODLANDS

This was a cracking game but a few players let themselves down in the last minutes of the game getting sent off, one from Finvoy and four from Woodlands .

Woodlands took the lead on the 10th minute through a well taken goal scored by Jay Pollock but then saw Gareth Cairns equalise for Finvoy on the 25th minute.

As half-time approached Finvoy went in front after Ryan Stewart scored on the 36th minute but Alex Haggan equalised for Woodlands on the to the minute.

Finvoy then had a man sent off on the 76th minute before Steven McClenaghan scored their third goal on the 80th minute. After this Woodlands had four men sent off at different times for a mixture of offences. Referee Mr. William McConaghie
