Glenavon Academy expanding

THE Glenavon Academy is expanding to include 6-12 year olds and recruitment will begin over Easter.

New coach Thomas McStravick has joined the Academy and will specialize in developing this very important age group. Currently the Academy only caters for 11 year olds and upwards.

Thomas already has considerable coaching experience behind him and will commence his UEFA A license this June in Scotland. He has personal contacts with Everton and will help bring a new dynamic and enthusiasm to the Glenavon Academy with particular focus in the coming months of getting players and indeed coaches recruited for these new age groups that will compete next season in 5 aside, 7 aside and 9 aside competitions.

The launch event and recruitment for the 6-12 age groups will be run over Easter Wednesday - Friday, 3rd, 4th and 5th of April at Mourneview Park from 10am to 1pm.

First team player-manager Gary Hamilton will assist Thomas during this three day launch and they will be further assisted by Conor Hagan and Nigel Law plus many of the current academy coaching staff at under 11 and under 12 age groups.

The cost for each child will be £5 per day.

Parents note to ensure that all children have shin pads and all necessary kit to join in the various skill programmes. They are also requested to bring along a small snack each day for a short break.
