Glenavon face Welders and Celtic land home draw

Glenavon have been drawn away to H&W Welders in the Irish Cup.

It will be a case of a revenge mission for Gary Hamilton’s side as they crashed out of the competition last year at Tillysburn Park.

“Any draw away from home in the cup is always going to be a test,” said Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton.

“After what happened last year we know it will be a diffcult tie. However, it is up to us to learn from last season and go down there and play our game and hopefully get through this time.

“They are going well in the Championship and will be delighted the fact they are at home. After going out last season we lifted outselves up and went on a great run. When the tie comes around we will give them the utmost respect and go determined to progress.”

Celtic boss Colin Malone is pleased his team have home advantage.

“I expect Bangor to be our opponents,” said Malone. “It may not be the big draw we would have wanted, but we are at home and have a chance go a stage further.”
