Glenn aims to sink beleaguered Glens

GLENN Ferguson hopes his Ballymena United players can heap more misery on Glentoran in tonight’s (Tuesday) rescheduled Carling Premiership match.

The sides meet at the Showgrounds (7.45pm) in a match which had been postponed just before Christmas, with the east Belfast side in total disarray following their Irish Cup humiliation at the hands of Newington and the subsequent resignation of manager Scott Young.

It would seem an opportune time for an improving Ballymena side to meet the Glens, but manager Ferguson believes it will be a tough task.

“It could work either way – they could be down in the dumps and give a lack-lustre performance or they could come and give a real response,” said Ferguson.

“You don’t know what way they’re going to turn up – they will want to regroup and put it right on Tuesday night.

“Saturday’s Irish Cup win gave our boys a lift and hopefully we can go on from that and pick up some points in the league.

“The games coming up are tough. They’re not unwinnable but if we can pick up some points from them it will be a bonus and if we can play the way we did in our last two games, there’s every chance we can get something out of the games,” added Ferguson.
