Glendowan U13...1

INSTITUTE’S U13 followed up last week’s goal glut against Glenavon, with a 6-1 home demolition job against Glendowan on a fine Autumn morning in Drumahoe.

They got off to a flyer once again with a penalty from Adams in the third minute, thrashed into the bottom left hand corner leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.

Burnett had already tested his range from distance on a couple of occasions and was rewarded in the seventh minute as he capitalised on a defensive lapse to crack the ball home from just inside the 18 yard box.

Kincaid got his customary goal in the tenth minute as he showed great composure to pull down Deacon’s floated cross and volley high into the roof of the net.

At 3-0 ’Stute slacked off and the away side were justifiably rewarded with a long range goal to cut the defecit. However, it only acted as a wake up call to the home side and they scored again before the half time whistle, Kincaid nodding in unmarked from a corner.

The second half brought the goals of the game to ensure the 6-1 win. Curry showed great skill to turn his man deep in the ’Stute half and release an arrowed through ball to Kincaid who raced forward and scooped the ball over a helpless keeper to complete his second hat trick in as many games.

The home side closed out the game with Deacon’s goal from a tight angle after latching on to a Scholes-esque pass from Waterstone in midfield.

The Waterside youngsters are now just one win off third place and within touching distance of automatic promotion as they enter the second half of the season.

Credit to the whole team for keeping their composure in the face of some late and hefty tackling from Glendowan whilst continuing to play their game and refusing to get caught up in the wrong wide of the game.
