Goalkeeper Jack Lemoignan signs first professional Derry City contract

The 20-year-old has been in the first team set-up for more than a year now and has really progressed under the watchful eye of Coach Declan McIntyre.

With Nathan Gartside having been handed the No 1 jersey, the Newbuildings youngster is taking the next step in what looks to be an exciting career.

City boss Devine says he had no hesitation in awarding Lemoignan his first professional contract and says he has high hopes for the player.

“Jack has progressed really well through the Academy both here and at Newbuildings FC,” he explained

“Derry City has a fantastic relationship with the Newbuildings club and I cannot speak highly enough of them. I believe that more players will follow this pathway in years to come.

“Jack is a really talented keeper and an easy lad to work with. He isn’t coming here just to sit on the bench; he will push Nathan and I think the two year deal shows our trust in him.

“He is a fantastic fit for this club. He is young, local and doesn’t mind the hard yards one bit. This boy has real potential and we have high hopes for him over the next number of years.”
