Goals galore in Foyle Cup

WITH 24 games across the city and surrounding areas on Monday night with goals galore in most of the games.

In the Under 19 tournament, favourites Derry City and Finn Harps made their intentions clear hitting four goals each to justify their pre-tournament status.

The Candy Stripes caught IFA Championship side Sport & Leisure FC from Belfast cold, taking the lead with a beautifully executed 25 yard free kick from Michael Duffy after 10 minutes and a brace from Tony McNamee gave them a 3-0 half-time lead, before Ryan Curran added a fourth - however Sport & Leisure composed themselves and fought back to only lose 4-2.

Championship side Dergview arguably had the result of the day holding Scottish Premier League side Hibernian to a 1-1 draw in Ardmore.

The new Ladies tournament saw Donegal side Lagan Harps defeat home town side Derry City 4-1, whilst Sion Swifts defeated YMCA ladies 2-0.

At Under 13, Institute, Derry & District and Limavady United all had comfortable wins to stake their claim for the title.

Dublin side Lucan United had the win of the day at Under 15 defeating the fancied Enniskillen Town United side.
