Golf: Millennium Trophy at Carrick GC

Gavin Baker, Adrienne Baker, Glen Williams and Helen Pedlow lifted the Millennium Team Trophy at Carrick Golf Club recently.

The victorious quartet registered 92 points to see off runners-up John Mclaughlin, Paul Hill, Nevin Millar and Stephen Lee who scored 90 points. Third spot went to the team of Ann Forsythe, ursula Lindsay, Judith De Fleury and Jan Robinson with 88 points and the fourth-place team of James Gardiner, Peter Moore, Willie Graham and Deane Taggart, also with 88 points.

ON Wednesday, a Men’s Open Seniors competition - sponsored by Stanley Hutchinson and Isaac Jardine - saw Nevin Millar (34 points) claim top spot in the 50 to 59 age group, followed by Jeff Millar (32 points) and Fred Williams (29 points).

Jim Bowen won the first nine prize and Gilly Thompson the second nine prize.

In the 60 to 69 age group, David Rodgers emerged as the winner with 43 points, followed by Jim Livingstone and Roy McKeen who both scored 33 points. Jackie Wilson and Harry Woodside won the first and second nine prizes, respectively.

In the 70-plus category Terry Lightfoot won with 34 points, followed by Des Graham and George Camlin with the same score. Davy Kerr took the first nine prize and John McQuillan was best on the second nine.

The visitors’ prizes went to Greenisland pair F. Trotter and D. Irvine. Nearest to the pin winners were Paul Scoffield (Greenisland), R. Gray, D. Irvine (Greenisland), John Irvine (Greenisland) and Brian Scoffield.
