GOLF: Successful week for Larne Ladies

Members of Larne Golf Club’s Ladies’ Section competed in the Irish Mail Foursomes competition recently and the winners were Margaret Gray and Maureen Dunwoody scoring 33 points. The runners-up were Audrey Faulkner and Ann Stratton with 30 points.

On Friday, the ladies were set to play in the Teams’ Cup. Teams, comprising of three lady members, should place their names on the time sheet in the club locker room.

Larne Ladies hosted an open competition on Sunday, September 23 sponsored by Tweed Fuels. The winner Lady Captain Janice Boal who carded 35 points. Cathy Anderson was runner-up with 34 points and third place went to Gail McNabb, who scored 33 points. The Best Gross prize was won by Violet McBride of Belvoir Golf Club with 29 points.

The Gents’ winner was Charlie Masson (Kilrea) who scored 36 points. The runner-up was Kenny McDowell 34 points, Billy Patterson scored 32 (bbn) to take third place, and Charlie Magill was delighted to win the Best Gross.
