Good win for Junior Park

BALLYMENA Junior Park were back in action in the NIPGL Junior Division 2 last Saturday when they entertained Cliftonville at the Old Ballymoney Road green.

The break had obviously done the Braid men no harm as they went on to record a 98-61 victory against the visitors from Belfast.

Rink 1 saw Jordan Millar, Eddie Leckey, Roland Wood and Roy Hutchinson played P Kane.

After a tight start, a count of 6 for Hutchinson's rink saw them go into a 10-6 lead.

At the midway point the scores were all square at 10-10. Ballymena then picked up a count of 5 shots to take the score to 15-10. Over the final half of the game saw the Ballymena rink hold out to win 21 shots to 18.

On rink 2, Clifford Duncan, Jackie Barr, Jimmy Shields and Billy Scullion played A Christie.

After losing 2 shots in the opening end, Scullion's men then went an impressive 22 shots without reply to take the score to 22-2 after 11 ends.

After not scoring for ten ends the away side scored on 5 out of the remaining ten ends, but they could not recover from the slow start. Due to Cliftonville only fielding 3 players they lost a quarter of their score, with the final scoreline 32-8.25.

Tommy Glass, Sammy Small, Alan McCombe and Harold Smyth played P Mullholland on rink 3.

Thanks to some heavy scoring, the Ballymena men had a 16-7 lead at the midway point. This dominance continued right to the end of the game with Smyth's rink losing only 6 out of the 21 ends to win 27-15.

Rink 4 saw Jimmy Alexander, Joe McKernan, Dessie Shaw and John Greer take on T Killon.

After 6 ends the Ballymena men had an 11-1 advantage. Their lead continued on the 15th end as they went 18-9 up and after 21 ends they had secured a 21-14 win.
